97X was the branding for WOXY-FM, a radio station based in Oxford, Ohio, that operated from 1983 to 2004. Known for its alternative rock format, it gained a loyal following and was one of the first stations to embrace the genre in the U.S. After its FM broadcast ceased in 2004, it transitioned to an online-only platform, WOXY.com, which continued until 2010. The station was celebrated for its pioneering role in promoting independent and alternative music and was immortalized in the 1988 film *Rain Man* with the tagline "97X... Bam! The future of rock and roll."
