Rádio Independência was a Brazilian radio station based in Brasília, the capital of Brazil. It was founded in 1976 and became known for its role in airing news and political content during a time of military dictatorship in the country. The station gained historical significance for broadcasting the "Manifesto ao Povo Brasileiro" by General Euler Bentes Monteiro in 1977, which criticized the military regime. Rádio Independência ceased operations in 1980, following pressure and censorship from the government. It remains a symbol of resistance and freedom of expression in Brazilian media history.
