Choice FM was a UK radio station that launched in 1990 in London, becoming the first licensed independent Black music station in the UK. It primarily catered to African and Caribbean communities, playing genres like R&B, hip-hop, reggae, soca, and gospel. In 2013, the station was rebranded as Capital XTRA by its owner, Global, shifting towards a more mainstream urban music format. The rebranding was met with criticism from some listeners who felt the station's original focus on Black music and culture was diminished.
