Radio Magallanes was a Chilean radio station known for its critical role during the 1973 military coup in Chile. On September 11, 1973, it was one of the few media outlets that broadcast President Salvador Allende's final speech before the coup forces stormed the presidential palace. The station was silenced shortly afterward by the military junta. It was a left-leaning station that supported Allende's government and became a symbol of resistance and freedom of expression during that turbulent period.
