KMET was a popular FM rock radio station based in Los Angeles, California, that operated from 1968 to 1987. Known as "The Mighty Met," it gained a strong following for its freeform rock format in the 1970s, later transitioning to a more structured album-oriented rock (AOR) format. KMET became famous for its iconic DJs, including Jim Ladd and Paraquat Kelley, as well as its irreverent and countercultural style. The station ceased operations in 1987, switching to a new-age music format under the call sign KTWV ("The Wave"). KMET remains a nostalgic symbol of 1970s and 1980s rock radio culture.
