WGTB was a radio station operated by Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., from the 1940s until the university shut it down in 1979. Originally a campus-based station, it gained prominence in the 1960s and 1970s for its progressive and countercultural programming, including alternative music, political commentary, and LGBTQ+ advocacy. The station became controversial due to its leftist political stance, which clashed with the university's Jesuit administration. After its closure, the station's frequency (90.1 FM) was sold to the University of the District of Columbia, which launched its own station, WDCU. WGTB remains remembered as a significant voice of counterculture in Washington, D.C., during its time.
