Rádio Favela 100.1 FM was a community radio station based in the Aglomerado da Serra, a favela in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Founded in 1981, it operated as a pirate radio station for decades, providing a platform for marginalized voices and addressing social issues like racism, poverty, and inequality. Despite facing legal challenges and police crackdowns, Rádio Favela gained national and international recognition for its role in empowering the community. It was eventually legalized and became a symbol of resistance and grassroots activism in Brazil. The station inspired the award-winning 2002 Brazilian film *"Uma Onda no Ar"* (Wave in the Air).
